5 Big Positives for Man United this term ahead of crunch Spurs revenge clash
After the first few games of the 2025/26 season, morale had never been lower around Manchester United. Not only had they failed to shake off the fleas from last season, they were subjected to an humilating defeat in the EFL Cup against League Two outfit Grimsby Town.
This was, perhaps, the lowest point United ever sunk to during the Premier League era. Now, however, a light is seemingly beginning to form at the end of this long, dark tunnel.
Today, we’ll give United’s fans something positive to read – here are five good things that have taken place during United’s Premier League campaign so far.
The emergence of Senne Lammens
No one expected Senne Lammens to be as good as he is – except perhaps United’s recruitment team. After a dismal start to the season which saw first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana practically chased out of the club on a loan move, Lammens took over from Altay Bayindir and has been putting in consistently strong performances between the sticks ever since.
He has made four appearances for the Red Devils so far this season, conceding five goals and keeping a single clean sheet. He is still rough around the edges, but United seem to have a real diamond on their hands here.
Ruben Amorim’s system finally gelling with the players
Ruben Amorim is not an unpopular man within the United dressing room. They want to perform well for him – but, understandably, almost everyone in the squad had problems adapting to his intricate play style.
Recently, however, it all seems to have been coming together. The best example of the team’s newly-found cohesion was during their 2-1 win over Liverpool where they crowded the midfield and largely stifled the Premier League champions.
Casemiro’s revival
Many believed it was time to put Casemiro out to pasture, but he has proven them all wrong with his performances in recent weeks. He may never recapture the form he had at Real Madrid, but he has reached a fairly close approximation.
Used to his strengths in Amorim’s system, he is able to go about his business without having to worry about any other duties. He is aging, but there is life in the old dog yet and don’t be surprised to see him make Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil World Cup squad.
Bryan Mbeumo’s excellent start at Man Utd
One piece of business completed by United in the summer currenty stands above the rest – their capture of former Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo.
As things stand, the Frenchman has scored four Premier League goals, alongside a single assist. Not all of United’s forays into the transfer market have proved successful so far this year – but this certainly cannot be said about the acquisition of Mbeumo.
Unbeaten since September
At the time of writing, United are unbeaten in four Premier League games, picking up three wins along the way. Their last game was a bit of a speed bump, as they drew 2-2 against a struggling Nottingham Forest outfit, but they still managed to avoid a loss.
United are a team with momentum on their side at the moment. Can they keep it going? Or is this yet another false dawn for the United faithful?
They face Spurs next in the PL away in the 12pm Saturday morning kick-off and will hope to get revenge for the Europa League Final defeat they suffered at the hands of the North London outfit.
