Arsenal still ‘keen’ on signing 24 year old Brazilian

Arsenal remain very interested in securing the services of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo. Mikel Arteta is determined to add to his attacking depth ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

According to English publication, The Daily Mail, Arsenal remain positive about the prospect of signing Rodrygo. However, the club will now approach the deal differently.

The Gunners have been constantly linked with the signing of Rodrygo during the summer. Los Blancos value their winger at £77 million and refused to budge when Arsenal initiated talks. Another hindrance for Arsenal were the staggering wage demands of the Brazilian forward.

New approach to Rodrygo deal

Mikel Arteta & Co. will now take a shorter-sighted approach to this transfer and will try to force through a loan deal for the sizzling attacker. It remains to be seen if Real Madrid will be keen to let their star leave on a temporary loan move.

Rodrygo had been a regular starter for the club for three seasons until the last season, which marked the arrival of Kylian Mbappe. The left wing belongs to Vinicius Jr, the number nine position to Mbappe, leaving Rodrygo scrambling for game time.

Things were expected to improve for the 24-year-old forward with the arrival of Xabi Alonso at the helm at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, during the Club World Cup in USA, Rodrygo failed to leave a mark and barely got a few minutes on the pitch.

Speaking about Rodrygo during the Club World Cup, Xabi Alonso has been quoted as saying:

“The fact that he didn’t play again is a game-by-game decision. The way things were going, we needed another player.

There haven’t been any decisions about the future throughout this entire championship; we haven’t rotated much. We’ll start in a different context.

We want to build a team that plays as a unit and maintain that feeling and spirit. The World Cup has been very demanding; we’ve been left in the penultimate stage, it hurts, and now we’ll see what happens.”

Rodrygo’s story so far

Rodrygo’s overall journey at the Spanish capital has been simply amazing. After arriving as a teenager, the player has already featured over 270 times for Los Blancos. In the process, the player has scored 68 goals and provided 51 assists.

If a move materialises for the Brazilian, he could simply wreak havoc in the Premier League. Arsenal will have one of the best-looking front lines if they are able to add Rodrygo to the handsome-looking list of new Arsenal attackers – Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke. The club are also in talks with Crystal Palace over a possible transfer of Eberechi Eze.

Arsenal played host to Athletic Club (friendly) this weekend and as Sky Sports reported won in convincing style as new man Viktor Gyokeres scored his 1st goal for the club ahead of kickstarting their Premier League season away at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
