Starlet set to sign Villa Park extension amid Hammers and Forest links
Aston Villa are determined to hold onto midfielder Jacob Ramsey, whose current contract runs out in 2027. West Ham United and Nottingham Forest have displayed serious intent in signing the player.
The Villans are currently in no mood to let go of their coveted player. Ramsey is highly rated at the club and has been rewarded with a new contract by Unai Emery & Co, which could be announced officially in the coming days.
The new contract will prolong Ramsey’s stay at Villa Park and will also enable the Villans to command a higher transfer fee for their prized asset (if a suitable offer arrives or in the future).
A permanent transfer away from Aston Villa can not be ruled out this summer.
Good move for Villans?
It seems like a correct decision from Aston Villa to offer the player a contract extension. Allowing the Premier League more bargaining power when an interested party like West Ham United or Nottingham Forest, come knocking. However, the Claret and Blue are yet to receive an offer for their 24 year old star midfielder.
Jacob Ramsey had an injury-marred 2023/24 season and made progress in the correct direction in the following season. With 45 appearances in the 2024/25 season, the Englishman earned plaudits for his 4 goals and 7 assists.
What does the gossip say?
Internal gossip at the club suggests that Aston Villa are planning to sell Ramsey for a hefty price tag in the future. Allowing the club to fall in line with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Regulations in the future.
Being a graduate of Aston Villa’s academy, the club will be able to record pure profit in its books.
The transfers and contracts department at Villa Park has worked across this summer. With the announcement of Ramsey’s new contract expected soon, the club have already successfully negotiated new contracts with club regulars – Lucas Digne and Boubacar Kamara.
Aston Villa have also been linked with a move for former loan star Marco Asensio. With the transfer window coming to a close soon, it remains to be seen if Unai Emery goes searching for new recruits in the market.
