The 2025/26 Championship season is hotting up. Teams from across the division are jostling for a place in the top six – but who will get their hands on one before the campaign’s conclusion?

That’s what we asked ChatGPT today. We asked it to name the six teams that will make it into the top six and the order in which they will finish – let’s take a look at the results.

6. Preston North End

ChatGPT certainly wasn’t feeling to adventurous with this one. Preston North End are currently in sixth position in the Championship table, which is where ChatGPT believes they will stay.

Preston have been causing a bit of a stir in the Championship this season. They started well, picking up big wins over Ipswich Town and Leicester City, but have struggled to put a run of form together in the following months.

Currently, Preston have won two, drawn two and lost two in their last six league outings. A loss could see them fall out of the top six as things stand, as they are only two points ahead of the club in seventh (Stoke City).

5. Hull City

Hull City have been a bit of a basket case over the last half-decade, but the Tigers have shown encouraging signs of stability this season.

Like Preston, ChatGPT thinks Hull will finish in the same position that they are currently in – fifth. They’re in somewhat better form than PNE, winning four of their last six Championship games.

Hull have a very impressive scoring record in the league this season – only Ipswich and league leaders Coventry City have scored more goals than them in the Championship in 2025/26.

4. Millwall

What a season Millwall are having. It shouldn’t come as any surprise that ChatGPT thinks that the Lions will bag a top four spot – Alex Neil is doing a phenomenal job with them.

Their goal difference isn’t very encouraging, standing at -2, but Millwall’s knack for grinding out results against tough teams will serve them very well at the business end of the campaign.

They haven’t lost a game in the league since mid-December. Even then, it came against a fellow top six side and they played a portion of the game with ten men.
