Former PL star savages Ruben Amorim for saying the ‘wrong thing’ about want-away stars like Rashford and Garnacho

Former Scotland international believes that the Red Devils have made multiple mistakes when it comes to moving players out of Old Trafford.

Ex-Liverpool midfielder and current ESPN pundit Don Hutchison is the latest ex-pro to take a swipe at Manchester United’s approach to selling players.

In a scathing assessment of United’s player trading, Hutchison stuck the boot into the club hierarchy and current manager Ruben Amorim, explaining that comments the Portuguese coach has made regarding want-away stars like Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho will result in the club having to sell the players for knock-down prices.

What has Don Hutchison said about the United situation?

Speaking in a recent interview, Hutchison said: “You can’t say anything good about how Manchester United have gone about selling players. I think they’re in a position now where there’s probably four or five players that they need to move out the door and they’re going to have to take a loss, because I think even the manager Amorim at times has said completely the wrong thing.

“He said he’d rather play his goalkeeping coach rather than Marcus Rashford, which probably hit his transfer fee right away.”

Don continued: “I think clubs will be looking at United players this summer and thinking, they need to sell, we can wait. They might want 50 million for Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho, but clubs know they can wait until the last few days and offer £20m. They just don’t have the bargaining power anymore.”

Can United find takers for the want-away stars?

While we agree with Don’s comments, certainly when you think about some of the players the club have let go of over the last few transfers windows, it remains to be seen whether or not any club would be willing to take a punt on the likes of Rashford and Garnacho this summer.

Not to mention the club are also looking to move on Jadon Sancho who is returning from a so-so loan at Chelsea as well as winger Antony who was loaned out to Real Betis where he enjoyed a productive spell.

All 4 wingers are struggling to attract new clubs this summer although Barcelona are reportedly keeping their interest in Marcus Rashford alive.
