England Players Ratings Vs Panama – One 9/10 & One 8/10 in 2-0 Win

England weren’t at their best in their final 2026 World Cup Group L game against Panama, but did enough to come away with three points. In doing so, the Three Lions finished top of the table.

Thomas Tuchel’s men will now square off against DR Congo or Senegal in the last 32. Who were their best players going into the game? Let’s find out.

GK: Jordan Pickford – 7

A steady, assured game for Jordan Pickford. Probably had to do more than he would’ve expected, but dealt with everything comfortably enough.

Made some decent saves and played some excellent balls out from the back – a display that we have come to expect from the Everton man.

RB: Jarell Quansah – 5

Perhaps not the World Cup debut that Jarell Quansah would have hoped for. Played out of position (contrary to what Tuchel might think) at right-back, it wasn’t the sort of game that we’d expect him to thrive in as an auxiliary full-back.

He didn’t really get forward enough to support Bukayo Saka, often forcing the Arsenal star to hug the touchline instead of cutting inside. He also received a booking and seemingly picked up a knock – not really the former Liverpool man’s day, but we wouldn’t say he had a bad game per se.

CB: Ezri Konsa – 7

Ezri Konsa enjoyed his third World Cup start in a row. Nevertheless, he was the lesser of the two centre-backs, but was seldom troubled by Panama’s attacking ranks.

Often made to chase as Los Canaleros looked to play the ball directly and quickly – however, defending against such an approach is Konsa’s bread and butter.

CB: Marc Guehi – 8

Another solid, largely faultless performance from Marc Guehi. Had to deal with his fair share of Panamanian physicality, but invariably came out on top.

So far, England have not conceded a goal in the 2026 World Cup while he has been on the pitch – how long can they sustain this into the knockout rounds?
