Europa League Team of the Week XI

The last game of the Europa League league phase is now in the books. Teams such as Rangers, Feyenoord and OGC Nice have now crashed out of the competition – but who were the top individual performers from Thursday night?

We’ll be looking at players from teams like Celtic, Nottingham Forest and Real Betis for the purposes of this list – can you guess who we’ve chosen?

GK: Daniil Khudyakov

Daniil Khudyakov is still a baby in goalkeeping terms, at just 22 years of age – nevertheless, he put forth a very mature display against Brann.

He had plenty of work to do, making six saves to maintain Sturm Graz’s clean sheet in a 1-0 win – sadly, it wasn’t enough to secure a spot in the playoffs.

RB: Nadir Zortea

Bologna were expected to trounce a lowly Maccabi Tel Aviv outfit on Thursday evening – and they did just that, with Nadir Zortea ruling the right flank with an iron fist.

Zortea kept a clean sheet against Tel Aviv in a 3-0 away win – additionally, he also found the assist for their second goal of the game.

CB: Nathan Ngoy

Lille secured a spot in the playoffs thanks to a dramatic last-minute penalty from Olivier Giroud, but Nathan Ngoy was their real star of the show.

The 22-year-old put in an herculean defensive display to shut Freiburg out – he made a number of crucial tackles and interceptions to keep a clean sheet.

CB: Auston Trusty

Celtic needed a win when they took on FC Utrecht to nab a late playoff spot – Auston Trusty made sure they did just that.

The Celts picked up a crucial 4-2 victory at Celtic Park – Trusty scored their fourth goal of the game to seal the deal for Celtic.
