Europa League Team of the Week
The latest Europa League gameweek is now in the books – with big wins for Celtic, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, who made it into our team of the week?
Lyon are currently sitting pretty at the top of the Europa League table, while the likes of Rangers, Feyenoord and Fenerbahce have all underwhelmed thus far.
GK: Noah Atubolu
Noah Atubolu had plenty of work to do for Freiburg against Viktoria Plzen, but nonetheless managed to maintain his clean sheet.
He made a total of seven saves over the course of the proceedings – Plzen simply couldn’t find a way beyond the former Germany U21 star.
RB: Davide Calabria
Long-time AC Milan defender Davide Calabria has found a new home in Panathinaikos this season – so far, the 7-cap Italian international is thriving in the Greek Super League.
He scored the winning goal for his team against Sturm Graz as the Greek giants ran out as 2-1 winners at home.
CB: Milos Veljkovic
Red Star Belgrade had plenty of work to do when Milos Veljkovic’s centre-back partner, Franklin Tebo Uchenna, was sent off in the 27th minute in their game against FC Steaua București.
Nevertheless, Veljkovic performed excellently in without his trusted defensive partner, keeping FCSB’s attackers at bay and playing a vital role in Red Star’s 1-0 win.
CB: Nikola Milenkovic
The 2025/26 season has been tough for Nottingham Forest, but they were dominant in their game against Malmo FF.
Not only did star defender Nikola Milenkovic keep a clean sheet for the Trees, he also scored their third and final goal of the game.
To have 2 players in the team of the week is a credit to the players themselves, the whole team, MON and Sean Maloney. Well done bhoys, credit where it’s due. HH
