Everton excitement as agent of ‘world-class’ player arrives for transfer talks

The negotiating party at Everton are optimistic about the arrival of the agent of one of their transfer targets in England.

It is now understood by Tuttosport that the agent of Douglas Luiz has jetted into the United Kingdom, hinting at an advanced stage in negotiations. Everton are amongst the several Premier League clubs interested in the Brazilian midfielder.

Despite the stiff competition expected from other teams, a return to the English top flight seems more than likely on the cards for Douglas Luiz. The ex Aston Villa midfielder has previously discussed the possibility of making a comeback to Premier League football after a year in Turin with Juventus.

The transfer saga

Credible sources confirm that at least two other English clubs, Fulham and Leeds United, are keen on securing the services of the 27 year old midfielder. Despite the interest from other clubs, Luiz seems inclined towards a move to the blue side of Liverpool – and is pushing for the same.

With the arrival of Luiz’s agent in England, it would not be wrong to assume that in person talks could be scheduled between the two parties where finer details of the transfer could be discussed and negotiated.

If reports are to be believed, the Italian heavyweights, Juventus, are monitoring the situation closely, and they might be tempted to push the asking price for Douglas Luiz with interest from several suitors arising.

There were strong rumours of a swap deal involving Jadon Sancho of Manchester United going to Juve in exchange for Luiz but this deal appears to have stalled.

Summer of inactivity so far needs to change

Everton have been rather cautious in their outing in the summer transfer window thus far, with the club only making three additions to their squad from last season – Thierno Barry, Carlos Alcaraz (who made his loan permanent from Flamengo) and Mark Travers.

David Moyes has worked on a tight budget this summer. However, the gaffer is insisting on further reinforcements before his team jets off to the United States for their preseason. A good preseason would allow the team to gel together as a unit before they undertake the burden of the 2025/26 season.
