Fantasy Premier League: FPL Winners & Losers

We’ll be taking a short break from Fantasy Premier League after this gameweek – with the FA Cup third round due to begin this week, England’s top division will undergo a brief hiatus.

Which players entered the cup in the strongest form? Let’s take a look – who were this week’s biggest winners and losers?

Goalkeepers

Caoimhin Kelleher is the obvious pick for our star goalkeeper this week – not only did he keep a clean sheet, he also saved a penalty to give himself a total of 13 points.

Liverpool’s Alisson also performed well on FPL this week. He had plenty of work to do against Arsenal, but was behind everything the Gunners could throw at him.

Gianluigi Donnarumma, sadly, cannot lay claim to such praise – Manchester City drew 1-1 with Brighton, as the Italian international scored just one point.

Defenders

Again, there is another clear winner in terms of defenders – likewise, he also plays for Brentford. Nathan Collins has been in excellent form as of late – he scored a goal and kept a clean sheet to net himself a tidy total of 13 points during gameweek 21.

Crystal Palace’s Jaydee Canvot also gave a good account of himself, bagging ten points for keeping a clean sheet against a dangerous Aston Villa outfit.

However, it was a gameweek to forget for Marc Cucurella, who was sent off for a wild challenge against Fulham and scored -3 points. Furthermore, Malick Thiaw also failed to cover himself in glory for Newcastle United – three goals conceded gave him a total of -1.

Midfielders

Harvey Barnes was this week’s star of the show. He scored twice against Leeds United, one of which was a last-minute winner. For this, Barnes went home with a healthy total of 15 points, making him gameweek 21’s highest-scoring player.

Brendan Aaronson was right on his tail – the Leeds man also scored twice, bagging 14 points despite being on the losing side at full time.

Jack Grealish, on the other hand, wasn’t quite as successful. He was sent off against Wolves, meaning he went home with a points total of -1.

Forwards

Today’s star striker is perhaps an unexpected one – Benjamin Sesko has faced no end of criticism from fans, but he found the back of the net twice against Burnley in a 2-2 draw. As such, he was awarded 13 points when all was said and done.

Additionally, Igor Thiago put in another excellent display to obtain 12 points after he scored a brace against Sunderland. The sky is the limit for this young man – you risk being left behind if he isn’t in your FPL team.

Such praise cannot be given to Chelsea’s Joao Pedro, however. The Blues’ game against Fulham was a disaster, as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat – Pedro failed to even make the starting XI. When he was brought on, he didn’t make much of an impression, either. If he is in your team, it may be time to transfer him out for someone in better form.
