Fantasy Premier League: FPL Winners & Losers
Another gameweek of Fantasy Premier League is in the books. We saw some very surprising results this weekend, including a shocking loss for league leaders Arsenal – how did your team cope?
This was another low scoring week, with the average points total standing at 44 for gameweek 23 – did you manage to best this? If you had any of our star players, there is every chance that you did.
Goalkeepers
Only three goalkeepers kept a clean sheet in the Premier League this weekend. None of the three could match Emi Martinez’s score of ten points, making him this week’s star goalkeeper.
Both Gianluigi Donnarumma and Matz Sels also picked up clean sheets this week for Manchester City and Nottingham Forest, respectively.
Alisson and David Raya on the other hand, had disappointing outings. They are each two of the most expensive goalkeepers in the game this season, but could only conjure up a single point over the course of gameweek 23.
Defenders
Three defenders scored 11 points this week – Cristian Romero, Matheus Nunes and Ola Aina all took home respectable points totals for their performances.
Furthermore, Leeds United’s James Justin also had another solid week. He netted nine points this weekend – at just £3.9m and having been selected by a meagre 0.3% of FPL players, he could be a very intelligent late-season pickup.
Sadly, Lisandro Martinez and Reinildo both had rough weeks, as they both amassed a total of -1 points. Martinez scored an own goal, while Reinildo was hooked at half time after the Black Cats let three goals in against West Ham.
Midfielders
Again, we have a tie for our star midfielder this week. Estevao scored and registered an assist against Crystal Palace, while Dominik Szoboszlai did the same – for this, they each scored 13 points. No players, throughout the whole of gameweek 23, could match this total.
Elsewhere, Emi Buendia and Yasin Ayari both scored 11 points this week – additionally, the quartet of Amine Adli, Harry Wilson, Omar Marmoush and Bryan Mbeumo all racked up ten points.
Adam Wharton did nothing but compound Crystal Palace’s woes when the Eagles took on Chelsea – he was sent off in the second half, leading him to be slapped with a points total of -1.
Forwards
Joao Pedro looked to be back to his best against Crystal Palace. The Brazilian international scored a goal and notched up an assist to rack up a total of 12 points. He wasn’t the only striker to gather 12 points this week – West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen did the same.
Both Thierno Barry and Igor Jesus have been the subject of heavy criticism this season, but they were both on form this week. They each scored a goal and came home with a respectable points total of nine points for the gameweek.
Once again, we have to point the finger at Erling Haaland. The Norweigian international didn’t just fail to score this week – he didn’t even make the starting lineup. Could it be time to move on?
