Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 7 – FPL Roundup + Winners & Losers
With the seventh gameweek of the 2025/26 Premier League season now behind us, we are now on the cusp of yet an international break. How is your FPL team looking ahead of England’s fixtures against Wales and Latvia?
It was a strong gameweek for Newcastle United, Manchester United and Chelsea – however, FPL players who have invested heavily in Liverpool will be bitterly disappointed after their weekend defeat to Chelsea. How did your team get on?
Goalkeepers
Manchester United shot stopper Senne Lammens is the goalkeeper of the gameweek, with 9 points to his name for his performance against Sunderland. It was a strong display from the young Belgian – could he be the long-term answer to United’s woes between the sticks?
It was a rough weekend for Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen, however. In a moment of pure misfortune, he scored an own goal after the ball rebounded off him following a save and hit the back of the net.
For anyone who had him in their FPL teams, this was a truly tooth-grinding moment. Despite this, he managed to redeem himself and rescue a point by making three saves later in the game.
Defenders
There were a few high-scoring defenders this week, but Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol managed to top the pile with a total of 12 points. It was richly deserved – he picked up an assist, collected a clean sheet and swept up the maximum bonus points.
Elsewhere, Jurrien Timber, Dan Burn and Jan Paul van Hecke were all good picks, with each of the three scoring 11 FPL points this week. In particular, van Hecke provided excellent value for money – he only costs £4.4, while the other two are worth over £5.0.
On the other hand, all of Liverpool’s defenders underperformed this week – each of their back four picked up just a single point after they were beaten by Chelsea on Saturday evening.
Midfielders
Antoine Semenyo was gameweek seven’s player of the week. Against Fulham, the Bournemouth star scored twice, picked up an assist and collected three richly-deserved bonus points.
Aston Villa’s Donyell Malen is also worthy of praise, after he scored twice against Burnley – furthermore, Bruno Guimaraes managed to score 14 points for his excellent display against Nottingham Forest.
Meanwhile, it might be time to transfer Gabriel Martinelli out of your team if you have him. He has failed to make Arsenal’s starting for the third gameweek in a row – and he only has one goal contribution so far this season. For his price he commands, this isn’t even nearly worth the return he offers.
Forwards
The best-performing striker at the weekend was Manchester United’s Benjamin Sesko, who picked up nine points after scoring and picking up the maximum bonus points against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.
He now has two goals in his last two games – could the young Slovenian finally be getting his Red Devils career on the forward path?
Hugo Ekitike and Richarlison both struggled for points this week – neither of them were included in their respective starting XIs and they also failed to make an impact from the bench.
