Here we go – Chelsea completes signing of 5th striker
Chelsea continues to improve their squad and are now on track to welcome Emanuel Emegha at the end of the current season. Emanuel Emegha is the 5th striker to be added to the squad since Enzo Maresca took charge at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have announced a pre-agreement with Strasbourg over the transfer of Emanuel Emegha. The Strasbourg captain will continue to lead his Ligue 1 team for the season and complete his transfer to the English capital at the end of the season.
According to English publication, The Express, the Blues were involved in negotiations since May and outperformed other Premier League suitors in transfer talks. Strasbourg and Chelsea are sister clubs under the BlueCo umbrella of companies, providing the Blues an edge in negotiations.
Brief history of Emanuel Emegha
The Dutchman started his career at Sparta Rotterdam before attracting interest from Royal Antwerp in Belgium. Emanuel Emegha then moved to the Austrian league, joining Sturm Graz as he grew in stature. The player’s continuous rise attracted interest from Strasbourg, whom he joined in 2023.
Since he arrived in France, Emegha has scored on 26 occasions in 64 appearances for Strasbourg. Last season, the forward played a crucial role by scoring 14 goals and securing European football in the UEFA Conference League.
Review Chelsea’s Transfer Window – All players that arrived and left in summer 2025
Emegha’s proposed move to Chelsea has not been welcomed by the Strasbourg fans, who have now become accustomed to losing their finest players to the Blues. Chelsea have used the French outfit as an academy for nurturing talents for their main team.
In recent years, several players have switched sides. This summer, Chelsea sold Ben Chilwell, Mathis Amougou and Ishe Samuels Smith to Strasbourg on permanent transfers. Additionally, Mamadou Sarr, Mike Penders and Kendry Paez were all loaned out to the Ligue 1 side for the season.
Who else was interested in the striker?
Nottingham Forest, West Ham United and Newcastle United were all keen on the services of Emanuel Emegha and monitored his situation until the closing minutes of the window. However, being a part of the BlueCo family, it was understood that Emegha’s long-term future is at Stamford Bridge.
Despite discussions throughout the summer, the Dutchman decided to spend another season in France before moving to London. Garnering some European experience might come in handy for Emegha ahead of his move at the end of the current season. Emegha will sign a handsome 7-year contract with Chelsea and will be a worthy addition to Enzo Maresca’s plans.
