Le Bris delivers update on late Sunderland transfer business
Sunderland boss, Regis le Bris, has delivered a strong message regarding Sunderland’s transfer moves for the closing days of the window. The gaffer spoke to the press following the Black Cats’ defeat at the hands of Burnley in the Premier League.
The club have enjoyed one of their busiest transfer windows in history after giving their squad a complete makeover over the summer. Sunderland are determined to stay afloat in the Premier League, having been missing from top flight action for 8 long years.
Sunderland have lavishly spent over £100 million in adding a dozen players to their squad giving Regis le Bris all the tools possible to churn good results at the Stadium of Light. However, the club are yet to finish their business for this window and might be tempted to add more players to the club.
What did the Sunderland manager say?
The French gaffer was optimistic after his team dropped points against Burnley. Le Bris mentioned that he was hopeful that the club would make a few additions to the squad in the coming days.

The manager also emphasised that Sunderland will be in no rush to make signings and will only commit to players who are a part of the master plan. The club, in haste, does not want to make poor choices in the market. Le Bris also stated that the defensive area is the one he is looking to reinforce further in this window. The gaffer has been quoted as saying –
“We still want to reinforce the squad if it makes sense for the balance.
It’s still possible in the backline if we find the right player at the right level and with the right mindset. We still have one option, maybe. But if it’s not the case, we’ll stay with what we’ve got.”
Who is the ‘right player’ Le Bris is talking about?
Sunderland have been linked with Serie A defender, Jhon Lucumi and have even initiated talks with Bologna. The player is also understood to be keen on embarking on a new chapter in his career. However, Bologna are reserved and find themselves in a taxing racing against time to find a replacement.
Action returns to the Stadium of Light this weekend as Sunderland will play host to Brentford on Matchday 3. Both the clubs will head into the fixture with 3 points to their credit so far.
