Le Bris: More transfers to follow at Sunderland
Sunderland’s gaffer, Regis Le Bris, has opened up about his side’s ambitions for the transfer window. Shedding light on the possible departures and arrivals at the Black Cats this season.
The manager was talking to the press following Sunderland’s match against Real Betis and emphasised that the Stadium of Light should brace itself for an action-packed close to the summer window.
Several players could be seen heading for the exit doors at the Stadium of Light, paving the way for the incoming signings and also to accommodate the 8 new players already signed.
Following the match against Real Betis at the Stadium of Light, the Sunderland gaffer spoke to the curious press and made the following statements about how his team could shape up for the 2025/26 Premier League season –
“The others, we are improving the squad, so for the others, this will have consequences for them.
It’s fair to say that we’ll find new solutions for them for the season ahead”
The manager’s statement has left it unclear whether the departures could be permanent or on a temporary basis. However, one thing is certain: a lot of transfer activity is still pending at Sunderland.
Lois Openda’s transfer story
The Black Cats were shockingly linked with a move for RB Leipzig’s Lois Openda. The Bundesliga side have been among the most reported on clubs via the transfer rumour mill with several of the team’s players linked with moves away.
Despite establishing itself as a serious selling club in Europe, it seems highly unlikely that RB Leipzig will part ways with as many as 3 attackers at one go in the summer. Xavi Simmons and Benjamin Sesko are already on course to arrive in the Premier League with serious contenders arising in Chelsea and Newcastle United, respectively.
However, the Sunderland boss was quick to nip the rumour in the bud and discussed only briefly the possibility of landing the 25-year-old Belgian, Openda.
In regard to the attacker, Le Bris is quoted by Sports Illustrated as saying –
“I think that this is fake news; it’s possible for this with social media.
Nothing at the minute”
The manager was quick to dismiss the rumours but has left some doors open for negotiations, hinting at a deal in the future.
Who else have Sunderland signed?
The Black Cats have been busy in the transfer market with the prospect of establishing themselves in the Premier League very much a serious ambition.
Among the latest additions to the squad is proven and tested midfielder, Granit Xhaka.
Also signed is Dutch goalkeeper Robin Roefs who could be vital to the survival of the club in the Premier League across the upcoming campaign.
