Liverpool hijack Arsenal’s deal for striker

Liverpool have emerged victorious in a multi-club transfer race for the signing of 17-year-old prodigy Will Wright.

Liverpool have reached an agreement with Salford City, and the player could soon join the Red roster.

Several Premier League clubs were interested in the signing of the young striker, with Arsenal seemingly being the favourites before Liverpool came knocking – eventually prizing the youngster away from the north London side.

The transfer saga

Renowned journalist and transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano was among the first to confirm Wright’s move to a Premier League club.

Romano took to X (formerly Twitter) 10 days or so back to inform the Emirates faithful that the club had emerged victorious among several other suitors.

Romano’s tweet read –

This did not turn out to be the case however as the transfer guru actually seems to have got this one wrong for once.

Liverpool’s decisive move

Trustworthy sources at The Athletic confirm that Arsenal were unable to reach personal terms with the player. A hurdle that Liverpool were quick to overcome and vital in landing the young striker.

A deal expected to be in the region of £200,000 plus add-ons has been struck between Salford City and Liverpool.

Wright has been a consistent goal scorer during his youth career and also for Salford’s B team. The 17-year-old made his debut last season for the first team against Manchester City and featured twice in League Two before the season came to an end.
