Liverpool & Man City in Transfer Pursuit of German Wonderkid
With the 2025/26 Premier League season havng concluded, scouts from across the glove have set themselves to work. One player in high demand at the moment is Hertha Berlin’s Kennet Eichhorn, a 16-year-old with limitless potential in the modern game.
His performances for Hertha Berlin have caught the eye of both Liverpool and Manchester City. In a report from TEAMtalk, the Reds have submitted an official offer to sign the player, while the Sky Blues are waiting in the wings at this moment in time.
Additionally, Eichhorn isn’t expected to be an expensive acquistion, either. The exact details of his contract are unknown, but his release clause is expected to stand at around £10 million. If he can realise his full potential, he could prove to be an absolute bargain – especially in the current footballing market.
Despite this, Liverpool and City are far from the only clubs in the race to acquire his signature. According to MSN, Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Arsenal, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Eintracht Frankfurt have also been linked with a move for the Hertha starlet.
Speaking with German outlet BILD, Bayern’s director of sport, Max Eberl, said: “When you see Kenny Eichhorn, we wouldn’t be doing our job properly if we didn’t consider him.
“Now we have to see if it’s a fit and what his and his management’s vision is. Whether it actually happens is a completely different matter.”
Kennet Eichhorn 2025/26 Bundesliga 2 stats
| Games | Goals | Assists | Yellow Cards | Red Cards | |
| Kennet Eichorn | 17 | 1 | 0 | 7 | 1 |
As you can see from the statistics above, Eichhorn certainly isn’t the finished product just yet. That’s to be expected, though, considering how young he is. To be playing senior football at his age is an achievement in of itself.
Regardless, as a defensive midfielder, it isn’t Eichhorn’s primary role to provide goal contributions. He may add them to his game in time, but he certainly shouldn’t be judged on them. In called upon to do so, he can also function as a central midfielder, owing to his superlative technical ability.
A fantastic, composed passer of the ball, Eichhorn can dictate the tempo and control a midfield battle practically on his own. He isn’t just a sideways passer, either – he has the vision and confidence to play defence-splitting balls from deep positions. Likewise, his first touch is also impeccable.
Additionally, he isn’t scared to throw himself into a meaty tackle when the opportunity arises. He may want to temper this, however, having already picked up a red card in his fledgling senior career.
At 6ft 1, he has more of a physical presence on the pitch than his age might suggest – he is deceptively strong, being able to ride challengesand carry the ball through the middle of the park.
Eichhorn has also turned the heads of Germany’s international coaches, having represented them at U16 and U17 level – it appears to be a mere matter of time before he is handed his senior debut for Die Mannschaft.
