Isak deal – Liverpool handed transfer boost as window end looms

Alexander Isak could be inching closer to his dream Anfield move following some interesting developments in the transfer market. Liverpool have just about 9 hours to secure the signing of the lanky striker and if overnight news is correct then Newcastle accepted the latest bid of £125m.

Alexander Isak’s coveted transfer to Liverpool has received just about its final push for this summer window. Long-term Newcastle United target, Yoane Wissa has publicly taken a position against his club, Brentford.

The striker has shown his displeasure at not being allowed to leave Gtech Community Stadium this summer.

What is Yoane Wissa saying?

Wissa further mentioned that several favourable offers have arrived for him over the course of the transfer window.

Wissa has taken matters into his own hands in an attempt to make one final push to join Newcastle United. The player has been quoted as saying by The Mirror

“I have stayed silent for much of the summer, but with just hours remaining of the transfer window I feel compelled make it clear that I want to leave Brentford. I believe the club are unduly standing in my way despite a series of fair offers throughout the summer.

Earlier this summer, I held open discussions with the club’s senior management, including key directors and the new head coach. I made clear my intention to explore a new challenge.

During these conversations, it was confirmed to me and my representatives that the club would not stand in my way if a reasonable offer was received. This was also put in writing. Based on this understanding, I sought to find a new club, keeping Brentford informed with full transparency at every step.”

The statements made by Wissa can be compared to the statements of Alexander Isak made earlier this summer. Isak took to social media and expressed his desire to exit St James’ Park with urgency. The forward even missed the Magpies’ pre-season tour and chose to train alone in San Sebastian with his former employer, Real Sociedad.

Destined for Anfield

Newcastle United are expecting to earn at least £130 million from the sale of their prized possession with add-ons. The Magpies have turned down two offers from Liverpool, rising up to £120 million. Alexander Isak’s frustration was understandable, and the player might finally be able to complete his transfer to join Arne Slot’s camp if his medical goes as expected today.

According to the English press, Newcastle are seeking to secure the services of two forwards. The club have already completed a club record signing of £69 million by adding Nick Woltemade to their attacking arsenal.

Newcastle gaffer, Eddie Howe, has kept his comments minimal surrounding the situation and recently spoke to the press also elaborating about his transfer plans for the window. The St James’ Park boss has been quoted as saying –

“On Alex’s situation I have no communication and no update, we are still actively looking to recruit but I don’t know if that has any relation to Alex’s situation.”
