4 players who can be game-changers for Ruben Amorim

Manchester United are keen on returning to winning ways after a rather dismal performance in the 2024/25 season – finishing 15th in the Premier League table.

In recent years, Old Trafford has not witnessed much success despite coughing up the big bucks in the transfer windows time and again. A shift in strategy aiming for a more sustainable approach might be the solution for the Red Devils.

Ruben Amorim, the Manchester United boss has earned praise for instilling confidence in young players throughout his career. Even at Sporting CP, Amorim made it a point to feature players from the academy.

Manchester United look like a team in transition with several young guns expected to graduate from the decorated Carrington Academy. We at Essential Football have listed out  players who could have a breakout season in 2025/26 and leave an impact for the Old Trafford faithful.

Chido Obi

Chido Obi joined the Red Devils in 2024 from Premier League rivals, Arsenal. The striker is imposing and has good goal scoring instincts.

Ruben Amorim has already shown confidence in the 17 year old centre forward. The lack of squad depth at United in the attacking third will make game time for Obi easier and more frequent.

Ayden Heaven

The 18-year-old centre back is another youngster who has made the switch from the Emirates Stadium to Old Trafford.

With lots of promise and amazing composure under pressure, Heaven is highly rated around the circles in Manchester United and could regularly feature in defence.

Interestingly, Heaven has already made several appearances for the Red Devils impressing every time with cool head and ability to handle big matches.

Jack Moorhouse

The 19 year old Irishman is highly rated at Carrington. Often times Moorhouse has been dubbed as the next “Paul Pogba”.

The skillful midfielder often displays calmness in possession and also displays brilliant ball carrying skills along with a strong engine.

This summer’s pre season results could important in determining Jack’s future at Manchester.

Amir Ibragimov

Amir Ibragimov is an England youth international and has featured in various roles for the United’s youth sides.

The 17 year old whose family has a Russian background is extremely versatile and standout features of his game are creativity and maturity.

It would be interesting to see the attacking midfielder feature for Ruben Amorim’s team regularly this season as the United needs to improve the spine of the 1st XI.
