Man Utd vs Sunderland – 6 players ruled out
Manchester United will play host to Sunderland on matchday 7 of the Premier League. Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim is under massive pressure after a lacklustre start to the season, despite some extravagant spending in the summer transfer window.
The Saturday afternoon fixture between Manchester United and Sunderland at Old Trafford will be played in the absence of six players ruled out due to injury.
Portuguese manager Amorim has been subject to intense media scrutiny due to a string of poor results at Manchester. The Sunderland clash has been labelled as ‘do or die’ for the Red Devils boss, with reports widely circulating that another defeat could lead to Amorim receiving his marching orders at Manchester United. On the contrary, Sunderland have returned to the Premier League after eight years and displayed splendid form, making the fixture even more challenging for Amorim.
Manchester United lost their last Premier League fixture against Brentford. Whereas Sunderland beat Nottingham Forest away and will be looking to move their way further up in the table. The Black Cats have accumulated eleven points and sit 5th. Ruben Amorim’s United are struggling with seven points and are lagging behind in 14th position.
Injury News for Sunderland
Black Cats boss, Regis le Bris was addressing the media ahead of the Premier League fixture and shed some light on the injuries his squad his currently facing. The Stadium of Light faithful will be pleased with the availability of Nordi Mukiele. However, Sunderland will head into the fixture with four players not up for selection. The manager has been quoted as saying by Mirror:
“Nordi is fine, he’s OK. We have no new injuries.
“With Romaine [Mundle] and Dennis [Cirkin], there is no definite date for their return to play. We think it will probably be a month, maybe a month and a half.
“With Leo [Hjelde] and Aji [Alese] it is similar. Leo is back running, with Aji there was a very small injury so he took a little step back. Probably one month for each.”
Injury News for Manchester United
Ruben Amorim will have Brazilian midfielder Casemiro back at his disposal. However, Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui are not available. Martinez is recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament issue that he sustained in February last season. As per Amorim, Martinez could make a return to the first team post the forthcoming International break.
Sunderland will be looking to add to their positive start to the season on Saturday after a spending spree in the transfer market that saw the arrival of a dozen players at the Stadium of Light.
Manchester United and Ruben Amorim need to get their act together before the Red Devils start staring at another season without silverware.
Manchester United play Sunderland at 3pm on Saturday.
