Newcastle close to completing signing of another striker
Jorgen Strand Larsen is all set to make the move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to join Newcastle United. Reports confirm that the Magpies are inches away from landing the Norwegian striker before deadline day of the transfer window.
Jorgen Strand Larsen’s exclusion from the Matchday squad for Wolves this weekend against Everton at the Molineux Stadium has raised serious eyebrows. Reports emerging from Goal.com are confident that the player could be on the move after receiving multiple bids from Newcastle United this summer.
Fabrizio Romano has also stated that Alexander Isak is inches away from securing his coveted move to Liverpool. Newcastle United will receive a huge inflow of cash that they can now immediately spend on signing Jorgen Strand Larsen. The Magpies are keen on further bolstering their attacking options, having already signed Nick Woltemade from German side Stuttgart.
The Newcastle striker story
Newcastle United have been consistent in their push for Larsen, with the club tabling two offers for the striker. Eddie Howe’s team have made two bids of £50 million and £55 million, without any luck so far.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have insisted that Larsen is not on the transfer market, being central to the club’s plans in the Premier League this season. The Magpies are in an acute race against time and will need to push through with the transfer before the 7 pm deadline on Monday evening while Wolves will need to secure a replacement to allow the sale of the Norwegian.
Another boost for Newcastle
Despite a firm stance on Strand Larsen’s transfer availability, Wolves are themselves pursuing a deal for Genk striker Tolu Arokodare. If reports are to be believed, Wolverhampton are signing Tolu Arokodare in order to make arrangements for the departing 25-year-old Norwegian international.
Wolves will be forking out £24 million for Arokodare, thus paving the way for the club to give the green light for the Larsen deal.

What did Wolves boss Vitor Pereira say?
Wolverhampton boss, Vitor Pereira addressed the press before the 2-3 defeat against Everton and tried to clear the air surrounding Larsen’s future at the club. The boss even went on to mention that the Norway International is an integral part of the team and he would like to focus his energy on the game at hand against Everton, which his team eventually lost. The manager has been quoted as saying by the Chronicle Live –
“It is important that we know every person has ambition in life, but at this moment, Jorgen is our player, is working hard because he has a good personality and is a team player. He is dealing with a small injury problem, and I hope we can play tomorrow with him. He is our player and an important player for us, and everything we cannot control, we cannot lose our energy. At this moment, it is important to think about the game.”
