Mads Hermansen

Mads Hermansen, a promising Danish goalkeeper born on 11 July 2000, has been making waves in the football world with his impressive performances and rapid ascent through the ranks. Currently plying his trade at West Ham United in the Premier League, Hermansen's journey reflects both resilience and dedication, traits that have shaped his career thus far.

Hermansen's footballing odyssey began in Odense, where he started his youth career at Næsby. A pivotal moment came when he transitioned from outfield positions to goalkeeper due to achilles tendinitis at the young age of ten. His potential was recognised by Brøndby, where he joined their youth academy in September 2015. After progressing through the ranks, he was promoted to the first team ahead of the 2019–20 season. On 5 November 2020, he made his professional debut in a Danish Cup match against Ledøje-Smørum, marking the beginning of his senior career. Although he did not make a league appearance during his time as a backup to Marvin Schwäbe, he celebrated a significant achievement when Brøndby claimed the Danish championship in 2021, their first title in 16 years.

As Schwäbe departed for 1. FC Köln, Hermansen seized the opportunity and became Brøndby’s starting goalkeeper. His league debut came on 18 July 2021 against AGF, followed by an impressive European debut in the UEFA Champions League against Red Bull Salzburg. His performances earned him the Brøndby Player of the Year award in 2022, a testament to his growing reputation in Danish football.

In July 2023, Hermansen made a significant move to Leicester City, signing for the Championship club on a five-year deal. He quickly made his presence felt, appearing in five matches during the 2023-2024 season. Following a successful stint with Leicester, Hermansen took another major step in his career by signing with West Ham United for around £20 million in 2025.
