Malick Thiaw

Malick Laye Thiaw, born on 8 August 2001, is a promising German defender currently plying his trade at Newcastle United in the Premier League. Known for his versatility, Thiaw can operate as a centre-back, right-back, or even in a defensive midfield role. His journey from the youth ranks to professional football is a testament to his talent and determination.

Thiaw's footballing roots trace back to Düsseldorf, where he began his career with local club TV Kalkum-Wittlaer. His potential was quickly recognised, leading him to join the youth systems of Fortuna Düsseldorf, Bayer Leverkusen, and Borussia Mönchengladbach. In 2015, he took a significant step by joining the youth academy of Schalke 04, where he honed his skills before making his professional debut on 7 March 2020, in a Bundesliga match against TSG Hoffenheim.
