Martin Dúbravka

Martin Dúbravka, born on 15 January 1989, is a stalwart of Slovak football, currently guarding the net for Premier League side Burnley. Renowned for his agility and shot-stopping prowess, Dúbravka's journey from local leagues to the heights of English football is a testament to his dedication and talent. With a passion for the game that began in childhood, he initially dabbled in ice hockey before a leg injury at the age of five redirected his focus to football.

Dúbravka commenced his professional career at Žilina, where he made a notable impact in the 2009–10 Slovak Superliga season, appearing in 26 matches and helping his team secure the league title. His performances earned him a spot in the 2010–11 UEFA Champions League, where he played in all six group stage matches, further solidifying his reputation. After a stint at Žilina, he moved to Denmark to join Esbjerg in January 2014, marking the beginning of his international club journey.

Following his time in Denmark, Dúbravka continued to forge his path through various clubs in the Czech Republic, including Slovan Liberec and Sparta Prague, before making a significant leap to English football in January 2018 with Newcastle United. Initially joining on loan, he quickly became a fan favourite, showcasing his skills and earning the Player of the Year award for the 2019–20 season. His time at Newcastle laid a strong foundation for his career, culminating in a loan move to Manchester United during the 2022-23 season, where he contributed to their EFL Cup victory.

On the international stage, Dúbravka has been a vital presence for Slovakia since his senior debut in May 2014. He has proudly represented his country in major tournaments, starting all matches at both UEFA Euro 2020 and Euro 2024.
