Giorgi Mamardashvili, born on 29 September 2000, has rapidly ascended the ranks of football to become a prominent goalkeeper for Premier League club Liverpool and the Georgia national team. Hailing from Tbilisi, Mamardashvili began his journey in football with Dinamo Tbilisi, where he joined the youth setup in 2012. After a few years of development, he signed a professional contract with the club in 2018, although he spent much of that season as an unused substitute.

In 2019, Mamardashvili embarked on his first senior venture, being loaned to Rustavi, where he made his debut on 2 March against Locomotive Tbilisi. Over the course of the loan, he made 28 appearances, showcasing his talent and helping Rustavi avoid relegation. His impressive performances earned him another loan move, this time to Locomotive Tbilisi, where he continued to rise to prominence. During his time there, he caught the eye of Spanish scouts, especially with his standout displays in the UEFA Europa League.

His burgeoning reputation led to a significant transfer to Valencia in 2021, marking a pivotal moment in his career. At Valencia, Mamardashvili quickly established himself as a first-choice goalkeeper, making 56 appearances and breaking the record for consecutive appearances in La Liga with 60. His tenure in Spain not only solidified his status as a top goalkeeper but also made him the first Georgian to compete in the Spanish top tier, a landmark achievement for his country.

Internationally, Mamardashvili has represented Georgia since 2021, further enhancing his credentials. His contributions to the national team were recognised when he received the Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2020, followed by the prestigious Footballer of the Year accolade in 2024. Known for his agility, shot-stopping ability, and commanding presence in the box, Mamardashvili's journey from the youth ranks to the heights of Premier League football is a testament to his talent and determination.
