Anton Gaaei

Anton Gaaei, born on 19 November 2002, is a promising Danish talent making his mark as a right-back in the world of football. Currently plying his trade at Ajax in the Eredivisie, Gaaei has quickly established himself as a player to watch, showcasing potential that has already attracted significant attention at both club and international levels.

Gaaei's football journey began in his local clubs Bruunshåb/Tapdrup IF and Overlund GF before he made the move to Viborg FF. He made his professional debut at the tender age of 17 on 2 September 2020, when he came off the bench in a Danish Cup match against FC Fredericia. His talents were soon recognised, and in December 2020, he signed a contract extension with Viborg that would see him remain until June 2023. Initially a winger in his youth, Gaaei was converted to right-back, a transition that proved pivotal to his development. He made his league debut on 1 April 2022 and became a regular starter in the 2022-23 season, accumulating an impressive 37 appearances across all competitions.

In August 2023, Gaaei took a significant step in his career by joining Ajax for a reported fee of DKr35 million, making him Viborg's record sale. He signed a five-year contract with the Dutch giants, marking a new chapter in his professional journey. Gaaei made his competitive debut for Ajax on 3 September 2023, albeit in a match that ended in a goalless draw against Fortuna Sittard. While his early performances attracted some criticism for defensive inconsistencies, his potential has remained evident, and there is optimism that he will adapt to the demands of Eredivisie football.

On the international stage, Gaaei has also made strides with the Denmark U21 team, where he has earned two caps since 2022.
