Marcus Edwards

Marcus Edwards, born on 3 December 1998, is a gifted English professional footballer currently showcasing his talents as a winger and attacking midfielder for Premier League club Burnley. Known for his exceptional dribbling ability and low centre of gravity, Edwards has drawn comparisons to some of the game's greats, most notably receiving praise from former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino, who likened him to a young Lionel Messi.

Edwards began his journey in football at the age of eight when he joined the Tottenham Hotspur academy. He rapidly progressed through the ranks, making his professional debut at just 18 years old in the EFL Cup on 21 September 2016. Despite limited first-team opportunities at Spurs, where he made only one appearance, his potential never went unnoticed. In 2019, he made a significant move to Portugal, signing with Vitória de Guimarães, where he began to establish himself as a key player, before transferring to Sporting in January 2022 for an initial fee of €7.67 million.
