Václav Hladký

Václav Hladký, born on 14 November 1990, is a talented Czech goalkeeper currently plying his trade at Burnley in the Premier League. Known for his shot-stopping ability and calm presence under pressure, Hladký has built a steady career across several clubs in Czechia and the UK, showcasing his skills on both domestic and international stages.

Hladký began his professional journey at Zbrojovka Brno in 2012, where he initially served as a backup to Radek Petr. His breakthrough came on the opening day of the 2013–14 season, when he made his first-team debut against FK Jablonec, impressively keeping a clean sheet. Despite facing challenges, including a red card against Sparta Prague and a loss of form that saw him replaced in the starting lineup, Hladký's potential was evident, and he was even compared to the legendary Petr Čech by his goalkeeping coach.

In 2015, Hladký made the move to Slovan Liberec, where he spent over two years as a secondary option. During this time, he gained valuable experience, featuring in several league matches and earning praise for key performances, such as his clean sheet against Sparta Prague. His tenure at Liberec was marked by a period of growth, even as he remained in the shadows of more established keepers like Martin Dúbravka and Ondřej Kolář.

Following his time in Czech football, Hladký ventured to Scotland with St Mirren for the 2019-2020 season, where he made a significant impact by saving three penalties in a crucial play-off shootout that preserved the club's Premiership status. His journey continued in England with Salford City and eventually led to his current role at Burnley. Though his national team appearances are limited, Hladký has represented the Czech Republic at youth levels, and he continues to strive for excellence in his professional career.
