Born on 26 December 1996, Alderete has established himself as a versatile player capable of operating both as a centre-back and a left-back, earning a reputation for his robust defensive skills and tactical awareness.

Alderete’s footballing journey began at Cerro Porteño, where he showcased his promise in the youth ranks, notably scoring during the 2016 U-20 Copa Libertadores. He made his professional debut for the club in May 2016, and by July, he had already marked his arrival on the senior stage with a goal against Guaraní. His performances caught the eye, leading to a loan move to Gimnasia y Esgrima in Argentina in August 2017. During his time there, Alderete made 22 appearances and scored once, showcasing his ability to adapt to a new league.

Following his stint in Argentina, Alderete signed with Huracán before making a significant move to Swiss football with FC Basel in June 2019. His performances in Switzerland helped him gain valuable experience and further develop his skills, attracting attention from bigger clubs.

In the following seasons, Alderete continued to experience a mix of transfers and loans, including spells at Hertha BSC and Valencia CF, before joining Getafe on loan in 2022. His latest chapter sees him at Sunderland, where he aims to make a significant impact in the Premier League. Despite having yet to represent Paraguay at the senior level, Alderete’s career is still in its ascendance, and he remains a player to watch as he continues to grow in stature and skill on the international stage.
