Joelinton Cássio Apolinário de Lira, born on 14 August 1996 in Aliança, Pernambuco, is a Brazilian professional footballer who has made a significant mark in the Premier League with Newcastle United. Known for his versatility, he primarily operates as a midfielder but has also excelled as a winger. Joelinton's journey from his early days in Brazil to the international stage reflects his dedication and adaptability on the pitch.

Joelinton began his football career at Sport Recife, joining their youth team in 2012. After two years of development, he made his professional debut in March 2014 during a Copa do Nordeste match. His contributions were pivotal in Sport Recife's successful campaign, culminating in their triumph in the tournament. The following season, Joelinton made seven appearances in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, notably scoring his first professional goals in a dramatic 2–2 draw against Fluminense and securing a memorable victory against São Paulo on the final day.

In 2015, Joelinton took a significant step in his career by signing with 1899 Hoffenheim in Germany, though his time there was brief, with just one appearance. To gain valuable experience, he was loaned to Rapid Wien for two years, where he showcased his attacking prowess, netting eight goals in 33 appearances. His performances caught the eye of scouts, leading to a transfer to Newcastle United in 2019. At Newcastle, under the management of Eddie Howe, Joelinton underwent a transformation, shifting from a striker to a midfielder, where his physicality and work rate have made him an integral part of the team.
