Premier League Team of the Week XI

Another Premier League team of the week is behind us – as Manchester City begin to close the gap on league leaders Arsenal, who made it into our most recent team of the week?

We’ll be looking at players from teams such as Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Liverpool – before you begin, can you guess who they are?

GK: Jose Sa

Not many goalkeepers have been as busy as Jose Sa was when Wolves travelled to Nottingham Forest – he made a total of ten saves against the Trees.

He kept Forest at bay and maintained a clean sheet – his excellent display would be the final catalyst for Sean Dyche’s sacking at the City Ground.

RB: Lamare Bogarde

Lamare Bogarde isn’t a natural right-back, but he did an excellent job when he filled in for the injured Matty Cash against Brighton.

He had the unenviable job of keeping Kaoru Mitoma quiet – nevertheless, he made sure that the Japanese international wasn’t able to pick up a head of steam.

CB: James Hill

James Hill has quietly become one of the Premier League’s most underrated defenders this season. He couldn’t keep a clean sheet against Everton, but the goal they conceded wasn’t his fault.

Furthermore, he also picked up an assist against the Toffees in a crucial 2-1 away win. He probably won’t make it into the England team, but he would be dealt a disservice if he isn’t considered.

CB: Virgil van Dijk

The 2025/26 season has been a rotten campaign for both Virgil van Dijk and Liverpool as a whole – regardless, their away game at Sunderland provided a rare bright spot for the Reds.

Not only did the Dutch international keep a clean sheet against the Black Cats, he also scored the only goal of the game – it was the first time that Sunderland have lost at the Stadium of Light this season.
