Premier League Team of the Week XI
The latest gameweek was no stranger to controversy, as we saw a highly-contentious game between Liverpool and Manchester City which ended in a 2-1 win for the Sky Blues. The Premier League title race is heating up – who made it into our team of the week?
We’ve included players from teams such as Manchester United, Newcastle United and Arsenal in this list – before we begin, can you guess who they are?
GK: Mads Hermansen
West Ham United have endured a brutal gauntlet of a season so far, but they were far too much for a deeply lacklustre Burnley outfit – nevertheless, Mads Hermansen had to make a few saves to maintain his clean sheet.
The Clarets rattled off five shots on target against the Hammers, but Hermansen was equal to everything that they could throw at him.
RB: Diogo Dalot
Diogo Dalot has come under criticism this season – regardless, the Portuguese international was practically faultless against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.
He kept a clean sheet and registered an assist against a depleted Spurs outfit, as the Red Devils came away with a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford.
CB: Jefferson Lerma
Despite being a natural midfielder, Jefferson Lerma put forth an herculean shift in Crystal Palace’s back three in a derdy day encounter against Brighton.
Palace have hit the buffers in recent week, but they were able to turn the screw when it mattered. Lerma won plenty of aerial duels and put in some crucial tackles – he was invaluable to their efforts at the Amex Stadium.
CB: Gabriel
Once again, Gabriel makes our team of the week – the Brazilian international is in good stead to win the Player of the Season award as things stand.
Sunderland couldn’t get past him – he defended his box vigilantly as the Gunners picked up a 3-0 win over the Black Cats.
