Real Madrid preparing massive £130m offer for Rodri
Real Madrid are reportedly preparing to break the bank for the transfer of Manchester City’s Ballon d’Or winner, Rodri. Los Blancos have been linked with the Spanish midfielder in the past, but failed to land him due to Manchester City’s valuation.
Rodri is central and instrumental to all of Manchester City’s plans, and the club are in no mood to part ways with their prized possession. According to a report published by Goal.com, Real Madrid are determined to pry away Rodri from the Etihad Stadium with a mouthwatering transfer offer of £130 million.
Rodri arrived at Manchester in 2019 from Real Madrid’s cross-town rivals, Atletico Madrid. Over the years, he has cemented his place in the heart of City’s midfield with tremendous displays. In the year in which he won the prestigious Ballon d’Or award, Rodri helped his national team win the European Championship and Manchester City win the league title.
Real Madrid’s interest in Rodri
This is not the first instance that Real Madrid have been attributed with a move for the midfielder. The Madrid native, Rodri, has been on the club’s radar as they have tried to fill the void created by the departures of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in midfield. Los Merengues President, Florentino Perez, was willing to splash as much as £87 million for Rodri in previous transfer windows.
Under the guidance of Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid are on course to create a perfectly balanced team. The Spanish boss would be delighted with the arrival of Rodri at Santiago Bernabeu next summer. The Spanish giants are preparing a humongous £130 million offer for the summer.
Is Rodri signing a new Manchester City contract?
Manchester City President, Khaldoon Al-Mubarak, is not willing to part ways with his star midfielder. The Citizens’ top brass are already in talks with Rodri’s representatives over a new contract for the stellar performer. The new deal would provide Rodri an increase in wages and promote him to the 2nd position in the highest earners charts at the Etihad Stadium, only behind Erling Haaland.
Rodri is, however, focused on returning to action for Pep Guardiola’s side when Manchester City take on Everton later this month. The player is recovering from a muscle issue picked up during the victory against Brentford. Guardiola was forced to look for answers at his bench after just 20 minutes on the field of play.
