Done Deal – Le Bris completes another signing

Sunderland have completed the signing of Arthur Masuaku, who was a free agent after leaving Turkish giants Besiktas earlier this summer.

The left back has plied his trade in the Premier League with a six-year stint at West Ham United before he joined the Turkish team in 2022. He made a total of 128 appearances for the Hammers and 108 for Besiktas.

Sunderland are determined to stay put in the Premier League this season after an absence of 8 years from the English top flight. The club have left no stone unturned in the transfer market, with the club relying on new recruits to stay afloat in the competition.

Summer of new beginnings

The club have invested heavily in improving their squad with as many as nine additions to the team prior to the arrival of Arthur Masauku. The DR Congo international will now join the likes of Enzo Le Fee, Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki, Reinildo Mandava, Chemsdine Talbi, Simon Adingra, Granit Xhaka, Robin Roefs and Marc Guiu at the Stadium of Light.

Arthur Musuaku was delighted on his return to the premier English club competition and even expressed his desire to deliver results for the Sunderland faithful. The French-born defender has been quoted as saying –

“I’m excited to be here and I’m also really happy to be back in the Premier League,

I want to bring a winning mentality and joy to the fans, and I’m excited to get started.”

As reported by Essential Football before, Musuaku’s arrival could not be the last puzzle in De Bris’ jigsaw puzzle. It is understood that a complex and hectic end to the transfer window proceedings at Sunderland could unfold in the coming weeks.

Interestingly, Musuaku’s very first outing with Sunderland could be against his former employer, West Ham United. Regis Le Bris’ Sunderland will play host to the Hammers at the Stadium of Light in their Premier League opener next Sunday.
