Como History
Founded in 1907, then known as Como Foot-Ball Club, Como initially began life in Italy’s sixth tier.
They steadily rose up through the leagues, eventually reaching Serie B in the early 1930s. In 1949, the Voltaics were promoted to Serie A for the first time in their history, winning the Serie B title along the way. They also won Serie B in 1980 and 2002.
Sadly, in the 2000s, the club was hit with major financial difficulties – this resulted in their demotion to Serie D. Another bankruptcy, in 2016, saw them kicked down to Serie D once again.
Today, however, the club is now Italy’s richest club after being acquired by the Djarum Group in 2019, having recently paved their way back into Serie A.
