Juventus History
Based in Turin, Juventus is one of Italian football’s oldest and most recognisable football clubs. They were founded in 1897 by students at Massimo d’Azeglio Lyceum.
A rift at the club resulted in several members breaking away from Juventus and forming Torino in 1906 – a club that would go on to become one of Juve’s fiercest rivals.
Juventus won their first Serie A title in 1905. To this day, Juevntus remain the most successful club in the history of the competition – as things stand, the Old Lady has 36 Serie A titles to their name.
They were briefly relegated to Serie B after their involvement in the Calciopoli scandal, but soon returned to Italy’s top divsion and were crowned champions once again in 2012. Outside of their domestic success, Juventus have also won two European Cups (in 1985 and 1996) and three UEFA cups.
