Liverpool History

Liverpool were founded in 1892 after the owner at that time, John Houlding, found himself with the rights to Anfield Stadium but with no team to play there following the move of rivals Everton to Goodison Park. Houlding quickly solved the problem by forming what we know today as Liverpool FC who have gone on to become one of the most successful global football clubs with 52 major men’s honours.

After joining the Football League in 1893, the team achieved promotion to the then 1st division after a solitary campaign in the 2nd division. The Reds rapidly cemented themselves as one of the country’s top clubs, promptly starting their trophy haul by winning League titles in 1901, 1906, 1922 and 1923.

Managers like Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Kenny Dalglish, Rafa Benitez, Jurgen Klopp and current boss Arne Slot have enjoyed trophy laden spells at the club with Dutchman Slot winning the title in his debut season.
