Millwall History
Millwall FC was founded in 1885 and initially branded Millwall Rovers by workers of workers of J.T. Morton in Millwall.
Traditionally a lower league side, Millwall have spent just two seasons in the top flight of English football, in 1988/89 and 1989/90. In more modern times, they have been regarded as a mainstay of the Championship.
Over the years, Millwall became infamous for its hooliganism, especially in games with clubs such as West Ham United and Leeds United. Though football hooliganism was largely stamped out across the country in the 1990s, their fearsome reputation remains.
On the field, Millwall’s greatest moment came when they won the Second Division title in 1988 – they also finished as FA Cup runners up in 2004.
