RB Leipzig History
Founded in 2009 by Red Bull GmbH, RB Leipzig is one of Germany’s youngest professional football clubs. Following attempts to take over existing clubs, Red Bull GmbH instead chose to set up its own club in Saxony.
Aggressive spending and canny decisions off the field allowed Leipzig to rise up through the leagues quickly, reaching the Bundesliga in 2016. They immediately made their mark on the division, finishing second in their first season in the league.
As of yet, RB Leipzig have yet to win the Bundesliga title, despite finishing as runners up once again in 2021.
Despite their failure to secure the league title, they have won the DFB-Pokal twice, in 2022 and 2023, and they also won the German Supercup in 2023.
