Sevilla History
Sevilla Fútbol Club was founded in 1890, making them one of Spain’s oldest football clubs. Later that year, they partook in Spain’s first ever football match against Huelva Recreation Club. Despite this, when La Liga was formed in 1929, Sevilla was not among the orginal members of the division.
They officially joined La Liga in the 1930s and won their first league title in 1946. They also won the Copa del Rey on three occasions in the 30s and the 40s.
Years of financial instability would plague Sevilla until the turn of the millenium, where they found new success – most notably in the Europa League.
Sevilla have won the Europa League a record seven times, with their most recent tournament victory coming in 2023. Additionally, they also won the Copa del Rey in 2007 and 2010.
