Wolves History
Initially founded in 1877 as St. Luke’s F.C by pupils from St Luke’s Church School in Blakenhall, the club would merge with Blakenhall Wanderers to create Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1879.
Wolves became one of the 12 founding members of the English Football League, moving to the Molineux Stadium at the end of the its first season (where they remain to this day).
The 1950s presented Wolves’ greatest era of success. During this decade, they won three First Division titles – they also won the FA Cup in 1960s.
Since the, Wolves have not replicated the success of the 50s – they even spent a brief spell in League Two in the 1980s. Nevertheless, today, they are an established Premier League club, having been in England’s top division since 2018.
