We are now five games into the 2025/26 Premier League season. The table is beginning to take shape, as title challengers jostle for position at the top of the table and relegation candidates scramble to keep their heads above water.
We’ve seen some excellent individual displays thus far – today, we’ll be looking at the five most creative midfielders in the Premier League so far this season.
We’ll base this metric on shot creating actions per 90 minutes. This can be anything from a key pass to successful take-on or even a drawn foul in an advantageous position. If it led to a shot from a teammate, it is classed as a shot creating action.
5. Florian Wirtz
With 4.95 shot creating actions, Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz takes the fifth spot on our list. Despite a mediocre start to life at Anfield, he has nonetheless been able to provide an effective creative presence in the number ten role.
A dynamic attacking midfielder with excellent dribbling and passing ability, we have yet to see the best of Wirtz in the Premier League. Once he adjusts to the division’s physical demands, he could be one of the best midfielders in the country.
4. Antoine Semenyo
Antoine Semenyo’s main source of creativity comes through his powerful runs on the ball – he is very strong and fast, allowing him to glide past defenders with ease and draw fouls.
Semenyo has accumulated 5.00 shot creating actions per 90 minutes for Bournemouth so far this season. One of the league’s most intimidating wingers, could a big money move be on the horizon?
3. Jeremy Doku
A similar player in many ways to Semenyo, Jeremy Doku has a few advantages over the Ghanaian. His lower centre of gravity makes him very difficult to muscle off the ball – additionally, he is technically superior, with phenomenal dribbling ability and electric pace.
He has picked up 5.09 shot creating actions per 90 minutes in 2025/26. He is slowly becoming a regular in the Manchester City starting XI, despite the ability of his competition.
2. Jack Grealish
Everton star Jack Grealish has become well-known for his ability to draw a foul. He has been fouled 17 times this season, five more times than any other player in the Premier League.
Additionally, he has made 5.98 shot creating actions per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He still has the highest assist tally in the division as well, with four to his name so far. An excellent dribbler and passer of the ball, opening up tight defences is Grealish’s modus operandi.
1. Bruno Fernandes
Bruno Fernandes’ shot creating tally far eclipses anyone else’s on this list – he has accumulated 7.06 shot creating actions per 90 minutes in the Premier League so far this season.
Manchester United often find themselves relying on their Portuguese talisman – his adroit passing and vision make him a real threat to any team in the final third.
