Done Deal – West Ham Complete Deal For English Defender

West Ham United have completed some amazing transfer business in the summer window with the successful deal of Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters.

It is understood that the Hammers made a last minute attempt to sign the English full back who was well on his way to Turkey to join Super Lig side Besiktas. BBC reports that the Turkish side pulled out of the deal after Walker-Peters deliberately delayed his medical scheduled at Besiktas.

Who is West Ham’s new signing?

Kyle Walker-Peters started his career at Tottenham before moving to Southampton on a loan deal in January 2020. The following summer Southampton exercised their option to make the switch permanent.

The 28-year-old defender made over 200 appearances for the saints and saw his contract run out this summer. Coinciding with the clubs relegation to the English second division.

Graham Potter about his new signing

Following the completion of the deal, West Ham’s gaffer, Graham Potter was full of praises for his new arrival and spoke about Walker-Peters in high regard. The 50-year-old head coach also believes that Walker-Peters has the best of years still at his disposal.

The West Ham United manager is quoted as saying –

“He is a player I’ve always thought highly of and been impressed by whenever he has faced one of my teams,

“He has a really good pedigree, a top professional who has established himself as a respected Premier League player and still has his best years in front of him.”

Graham Potter was not the only one ecstatic about the deal; the same energy and zeal was shared by Kyle Walker-Peters as well.

What did Kyle Walker-Peters have to say?

The fullback stated that he has been a long-term admirer of Potter’s style of play and additionally also feels that it would be a natural environment for him. Peters is quoted as saying:

“I spoke to Graham Potter and he was a big, big part of me making the decision

I’ve always liked his style as a coach, and I think it will suit me well.

Every team wants to win trophies and West Ham have that ambition. From speaking to Graham, he wants to create something special, and hopefully I can be a part of that.”
